Restorative dentistry involves the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of oral diseases. Dr. Stroud has many years of experience in the restoration of teeth and strives to bring the latest techniques and materials to assure that patients receive up to date, comprehensive care. After our hygienists clean, x-ray and advise you on ways to improve your oral health, Dr. Stroud will discuss your individual dental issues and create a treatment plan to restore teeth that are decayed, chipped, cracked, discolored or missing.

Dr. Stroud enjoys establishing relationships with his patients and having a two-way conversation regarding their dental health. This is a key component in the comprehensive exam that is performed at the time of your first visit. This examination entails a thorough evaluation of all hard and soft tissues in your mouth as well as evaluating you for sleep apnea and TMJ/TMD issues. Dr. Stroud believes that listening to his patients is integral to achieving an accurate assessment of their overall needs and developing a plan for treatment. This may include referrals to other dental specialists or discussions with medical doctors.

Inlays and onlays are two ways to restore normal tooth structure after decay or damage. Unlike a standard filling, a laboratory makes a porcelain structure designed specifically for your tooth. It is bonded to the surface on a second visit. This treatment reinforces the tooth, giving the tooth 50-75% more chewing force.

Crowns and bridges are more permanent solutions to cracked, missing, or damaged teeth. A crown is used to create a “cap” for a damaged tooth that still has its root structure. A bridge is used to replace missing teeth when a dental implant is not advised. These treatments are cemented to natural teeth or a dental implant abutment.
